Rate:21.34ph via an Umbrella Company (Inside IR35) or16.40ph PAYE

Hours: Standard 40 Hours Per Week

Chemistry Senior Technician is required to work within Battery Materials Laboratory. Role involves preparing samples such as instrument calibration samples and test samples from battery cell components, through the use of fume hoods, glovebox, calibrated pipettes, balances, microwave digester. You will also be operating the GC-MS, so previous experience in this is essential. You will be supporting the Chemist to maintain a safe and productive workflow of analytical samples through the laboratory and therefore be familiar with safety documentation such as COSHH and risk assessments, ensuring you follow all procedures, as well as other safety instructions.

You will use workflow and instrument software and be able to create and maintain accurate records of analysis and write some basic reports if needed, using Powerpoint and Excel. This is a very interesting field and training could be provided to the right candidate to use other equipment such as ICP-OES, TGA, DSC, XRD or XPS. Skills Required:

  • Use of practical chemistry techniques such as analytical balances, pipettes, sample preparation.
  • Operation of Gas-chromatography.
  • Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) instrument.
  • Computer literate - Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint.

Experience Required:

  • HND or Degree in Chemistry, related science or laboratory experience.
  • High level qualifications not essential for the right candidate as practical experience is more necessary.
  • Must be able to prepare liquid samples for analysis safely.
  • Must be able to communicate well in English.

Experience Preferred:

  • Ideally able to interrogate, analyse the chromatograms and identify issues.
  • Operation of ICP-OES, TGA or DSC instruments would be useful.
