Your new companyYou will be working for a market-leading business who specialise in the supply of building and construction materials. They are looking for a Transport Planner to join the team at their Coventry site. Your new roleKey responsibilities include demonstrating a strong commitment to Health & Safety within the Customer Service Centre, managing programmed orders and services, and allocating deliveries for same-day and next-day plans. This involves effective communication and liaison with plants and hauliers, monitoring and amending plans to ensure smooth daily operations, and optimising the fleet through best practice planning. Responsibilities also include planning driver days in accordance with Working Time Directive and EU Drivers Hours legislation, using systems to locate vehicles and monitor delays, and communicating effectively with Customer Service Representatives regarding late loads, stock levels, and vehicle availability. Additionally, the role involves identifying the need for order renegotiation, managing returned and re-diverted orders, improving capacity planning, contributing to process improvements, and planning future plant and truck availability. Ensuring timely completion of administrative tasks, daily liaison with the Team Leader for fleet optimisation, and building strong relationships with key stakeholders to address customer requirements and concerns promptly are also essential duties.What you'll need to succeedThe ideal candidate should have previous transport planning experience, including working with Transport Management systems, and possess good geographical and road network knowledge. They must demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal, organisational, and problem-solving skills, along with a commitment to providing the best possible customer experience. Experience in a customer-focused environment and working with KPIs in a results-driven setting is essential. A solid understanding of the Working Time Directive and EU Drivers Hours legislation is required, as well as a digital mindset, the ability to work with new technology, and good IT skills.
