Procurement Project Lead
SF Recruitment are working with an innovative automotive business who are engaged in some exciting manufacturing projects, to recruit a procurement project lead. High value, low volume, bespoke manufacturing environment.
Job Purpose:
To be the conduit between the Special Projects, Purchasing & Engineering teams. To represent the requirements of the business, and scope of the project, to both Engineering & Purchasing whist maintaining project costs, and evolution of deliverables, to report out to the Senior Management Team, & Board, when required.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Identify Project scope, alongside Special Projects Manager.
- Compile project deliverables, from Purchasing & Engineering, alongside Special Projects Manager.
- Weekly meetings, with Engineers, to ensure Purchasing are represented during Engineering phase of project scope, thus enabling supplier selection to be from current, and future, supply base.
- Facilitate prototype sourcing to meet early build phases
- Ensures supplier nominations are on time and to budget
- Weekly meetings, with Buyers, to feed all project requirements into Purchasing & ensure correct supplier selection, for project scope.
- To represent all costs within the project team from conception, through all gateways, to final build.
- To monitor, record & maintain cost due to Engineering changes for all suppliers.
- To process all PCNs once the Buyers have approved the supplier selection & cost.
- Following supplier selection, maintain supplier relationships and review weekly project status, with team & Supplier.
- Escalate any issues to Special Projects, Purchasing & Engineering Manager to ensure swift resolution.
- Identify potential long lead time items (and other purchasing related risks) at the planning stages of a project and develop mitigation strategies accordingly.
- Maintain appropriate levels of project documentation on behalf of Purchasing and look for opportunities to improve the overall process and associated tools.
- Report out, to the business, the project status when required.
Skillset requirements:
- Strong Project/NPI procurement experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Automotive experience desirable but not essential
- Project mgmt. skillset within an engineering environment
