Buyer

Our client develops and manufactures commercial electric vehicles - they have developed corner modules that incorporate all of the vehicle's drive systems including the motor, steering and brakes. They are looking to hire a Buyer into their team based in Coventry.

You will be responsible for overseeing the Mechanical Proprietary Parts, which includes Motor, Inverter, Driveshaft, Steering Actuator, Brake System (Calliper, brake disc, actuator, EPB, Brake Pedal Emulator, Brake Fluid Reservoir), etc. We are looking for someone who has has exposure to one or more of the above.

Main responsibilities of the role are:

  • Cost Reduction: Focus on reducing the costs associated with current parts.
  • Part Development: Development of parts as specified by engineering.
  • Payment Terms Improvements: Enhancements aimed at revising payment conditions to benefit cash flow.
  • Timely Development: Emphasising the importance of completing projects and deliverables on schedule.
  • Capacity Alignment: Adjusting production capabilities and resource allocation as per demands.
  • Introduction of New Sources: Seeking and integrating new suppliers for materials and services.
  • Value Analysis and Value Engineering (VAVE): Systematic assessment to enhance product and service value.
  • Alternative Sourcing Based on Best Cost Country: Sourcing from suppliers in areas where costs are minimised.
  • Adherence to Quality Standards: Compliance with established quality protocols to ensure product integrity.
  • Logistics and Scheduling Coordination: Improving logistical efficiency and scheduling for better supply chain operations.
  • Availability of Spare Parts and Cost Settlements: Ensuring spare parts are available promptly and resolving related cost disputes fairly.

QUALIFICATIONS:


* Experience in procurement or supply chain management in the automotive industry
* Education: Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or relevant experience in industry
* Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of the automotive sector
* Skills: Strong communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
* Technical Expertise: Experience with procurement systems and ERP tools. Ability to perform cost analyses and implement VA/VE activities.
