Service Engineer Vacancy

Position Overview: A leading OEM of steel processing machinery is seeking a skilled Service Engineer. This role offers a competitive salary of £45-£50K, annual bonuses, no call-out or standby duties, and a company vehicle (choice of van or car). Additional benefits include a fuel card, 32 days holiday, a fantastic pension, private healthcare, and more.

Company Background: Part of a larger group, this company specialises in automation and processing solutions for various manufacturing sectors. They have a UK head office for machine storage, refurbishment, and distribution, and a global headquarters in Europe where the machines are built.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Installation, commissioning, maintenance, and servicing of machinery and equipment.
  • Fault finding and interrogation using Siemens S7.
  • Performing routine service checks and breakdown maintenance (both mechanical and electrical).
  • Working as part of a team of 10 engineers, primarily covering the Midlands and North West UK, with occasional national and Ireland travel.
  • Conducting factory acceptance tests and audits before, during, and after installations.
  • Providing end-user support, training, and demonstrations.
  • Completing service and maintenance documentation, timesheets, and expenses using a laptop.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a field service engineer with similar OEM machinery (laser, cutting, or press).
  • Multi-skilled in both mechanical and electrical disciplines, with electrical training ideally to City & Guilds or equivalent.
  • Solid understanding of PLCs for fault finding on inputs and outputs.
  • Willingness to travel nationally and show flexibility when required.
  • Full clean driver's license.
