Your new companyHays are currently working on behalf of Coventry City Council in recruiting for a qualified residential support worker to join their team on a long-term, full-time basis. Your new roleYour main role as a residential support worker will be ensuring the safety and comfort of the children at the home. As well as carrying out tasks to ensure the smooth running of the home, you should also encourage service users to have confidence and high self-esteem, but most importantly for them to have fun.You will be working with young people from a variety of backgrounds, with some having experienced trauma in the past. With this, behaviour can be challenging and you will need to be adaptable. Despite the challenges, this will be a rewarding role.This is a full-time position where you will be part of the staff rota. You will work 37 hours a week, which will be made up of a mix of early, late and sleep-in shifts.What you'll need to succeedYou will need to have a minimum of your L3 qualification in Children and Young Peoples Workforce and have recent, referenceable experience of working within a children's home. As this is a lively home, you will need to have experience and a willingness to get involved with activities and be a proactive member of the team. As the children in your care will have come from a range of challenging backgrounds, you will need to be able to effectively manage challenging behaviour.What you'll get in return
