Responsible Individual - Children's Residential Home (EBD)

Location: Coventry, West Midlands, UK
Hours: Full-time, 40 hours per week (including on-call duties)

The Responsible Individual (RI) ensures the children's home complies with the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015 and Quality Standards, providing strategic leadership, regulatory and safeguarding oversight, and supporting the Registered Manager to achieve positive outcomes for children with EBD.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure full compliance with Ofsted regulations, health & safety standards, and best practices. Maintain high-quality care, aiming for "Good" or "Outstanding" inspection outcomes.
  • Strategic Oversight: Monitor service performance, drive strategic planning, and provide guidance to the Registered Manager and leadership team.
  • Leadership & Staff Support: Support and develop the Registered Manager and staff team, fostering a positive and compliant work environment. Oversee recruitment, training, and professional development.
  • Safeguarding: Lead safeguarding efforts, ensuring robust policies and procedures, and prompt response to concerns.
  • Young Person-Focused Outcomes: Prioritize the well-being and voice of each child, ensuring care plans focus on positive outcomes and successful transitions to adulthood.

Essential Requirements:

  • Experience as a Responsible Individual.
  • Senior leadership experience in children's residential care (EBD experience essential).
  • NVQ Level 5 Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Thorough understanding of safeguarding, child protection, and trauma-informed practice.
  • Proven ability to meet regulatory requirements and engage with Ofsted.
  • Experience in quality assurance, service development, and staff management.
  • Clear enhanced DBS check and full UK driving licence.
