Job Overview:
Claire at Amber Mace is working with a leading care provider in the West Midlands who are recruiting for a deputy care manager to join the team at one of their residential services in Coventry. The Deputy Care Manager will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of the home, ensuring high standards of care, and leading a dedicated team of staff. This is an excellent opportunity for a dynamic leader with strong management skills and a passion for providing exceptional care to older adults.
The role will require you to:
• Support the Registered Manager in overseeing the day-to-day management of the residential home.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of carers and support staff, ensuring they are motivated, well-trained, and delivering person-centred care.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant regulatory requirements, including Care Quality Commission (CQC) standards, safeguarding policies, and health & safety protocols.
• Assist in developing and implementing care plans tailored to each resident’s needs, ensuring the highest level of care and dignity.
• Monitor and assess the quality of care provided, regularly reviewing care plans and making recommendations for improvements where necessary.
• Oversee the management of resident records, including accurate documentation of assessments, care plans, and other required paperwork.
• Build strong relationships with residents, families, and external professionals, ensuring effective communication and addressing concerns in a timely manner.
• Participate in recruitment, training, and performance management of staff.
• Lead and assist in emergency procedures and crisis management when necessary.
• Assist in managing the home’s budget and resources, ensuring efficient use of staffing and materials.
Key Skills & Experience:
• Proven experience in a care management role, with a strong understanding of elderly care needs and best practices.
• Previous experience as a Deputy Care Manager, Senior Carer, or similar role within a residential care setting is highly desirable.
• Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and lead a team effectively.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the confidence to make decisions and address challenges head-on.
• In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, such as the Care Act, CQC regulations, and safeguarding procedures.
• A proactive and compassionate approach to managing and improving care services.
• A good understanding of budgeting and resource management.
• NVQ Level 4 in Health and Social Care or equivalent (or working towards).
• A valid DBS check and compliance with safeguarding policies are required.
