SEND Specialist Tutor Opportunity - 1:1, CV2 1EA

Prospero Teaching is seeking a SEND Specialist Tutor to provide bespoke 1:1 tuition for a young person with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and additional needs.

The Opportunity

As a SEND Specialist Tutor, you will plan and deliver tailored lessons to bridge gaps in the pupil's education and enhance engagement and attainment. This role is ideal for an experienced teacher looking to step away from the classroom and offer personalized, enjoyable lessons.

The student has been out of education for some time, so confidence levels may be low. It's essential to reengage them in learning while providing structure in their daily routine. The student communicates using basic speech, Makaton, and a communication book, requiring a creative and patient approach.

Prospero Teaching will work closely with you to monitor the pupil's progress and support effective learning.

Contract/Position Details:
  • Location: CV2 1EA
  • Position: 1:1 SEND Specialist Tutor
  • Type of work: Contract
  • Start date: ASAP
  • Duration: Until the pupil can reintegrate into a new school placement
  • Contract type: Temporary
  • Part-time: 16 - 18 hours per week
  • Minimum pay: £22+ per hour
  • Hours: Typically between 10 AM and 2 PM, Monday to Friday.
Student's SEND Needs:
  • Diagnosis of ASD and Global Developmental Delay impacting speech and language.
  • Communicates using basic words, Makaton, and a communication book.
  • Thrives with structure and routine; enjoys interactive activities like sing-songs.
  • May become distressed by loud noises and sudden changes, necessitating a calm approach.
  • Focus on developing independence and engagement through outings, such as trips to the zoo or swimming baths.
Qualifications:
  • QTS or equivalent
  • UK classroom teaching experience
  • Experience with SEND or disengaged pupils
  • Creative, patient, and willing to think outside the box
Eligibility:
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate or willingness to apply for one
  • Two professional child-related references.
