Main Purpose of the Role

As a crucial member of the Senior Management Team, the Supply Chain Manager oversees production planning, control, material management, demand forecasting, direct procurement, stock and inventory scheduling, and final assembly to meet customer expectations.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Oversee production planning and control using the company's MRP system. Collaborate with Design and Manufacturing to ensure work orders are accurately generated with route cards, bills of materials (BOMs), and drawings, ensuring products meet customer specifications.

  • Manage all direct procurement with a budget responsibility of approximately £1.2 million annually. Build and maintain strong relationships with key suppliers.

  • Develop supply chain strategies that balance manufacturing needs with sufficient stock levels and cost efficiency. Ensure stock levels are accurate and up-to-date in both the MRP system and storage equipment.

  • Plan, manage, and coordinate the sourcing and procurement of necessary materials and supplies. Issue purchase orders to suppliers to ensure timely delivery for manufacturing.

  • Oversee the final assembly of products, conduct quality inspections, and ensure timely delivery to customers.

  • Take ownership of the company's MRP system to maximize its effectiveness.

  • Participate in production meetings to assess actual progress against production plans and provide updates on project statuses and any escalations.

  • Manage and enhance standard operating procedures related to the MP&L function.

  • Comply with the company's quality and health & safety management systems (ISO 9001:2015 and ISO 45001). Ensure all staff adhere to appropriate PPE guidelines.

  • Promote a culture of best practices and continuous improvement throughout the organization, identifying and driving initiatives forward as opportunities arise.

  • Provide day-to-day line management for a small team, including:

    • Task allocation to ensure timely and quality work delivery.
    • Cross-training for effective coverage.
    • Team and personal training and development.
    • Performance management, including setting objectives and conducting reviews.
    • Managing absences in accordance with company policies.
    • Fostering effective communication to maintain high team engagement and morale.
  • Undertake any other relevant activities as required by the business.
