Transport Planner - Job Responsibilities

Plan and schedule routes for a fleet of vehicles, covering both general haulage and pallet network deliveries.
Manage driver allocations and ensure that routes are optimised for cost-effectiveness, compliance, and on-time performance.
Monitor live operations to address any issues that arise and implement contingency plans to minimise delays.
Liaise with customers and warehouse teams to coordinate loading times and delivery requirements.
Ensure compliance with driver hours, working time regulations, and all relevant legal requirements.
Maintain accurate records of all transport activities, including vehicle maintenance schedules, driver logs, and delivery documentation.
Utilise transport planning software to optimise routes and increase fleet efficiency.
Provide excellent communication and support to drivers, ensuring they have the information needed to complete their routes successfully.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with customers, resolving any queries or concerns in a professional and timely manner.
Assist in the development and implementation of operational improvements to streamline processes and increase productivity.

Transport Planner - Job Requirements

Proven experience in transport planning within the general haulage and/or pallet network sector.
Strong geographical knowledge of the UK road network.
Experience using transport management software and Microsoft Office applications.
Ability to work flexibly across early and late shifts as required.
Strong understanding of compliance and health & safety regulations within the transport industry.
Experience in building positive relationships with customers and internal teams.

Transport Planner- Job Remuneration

Salary 30,000 - 35,000
