Exciting Opportunity for a Water Specialist!

Are you passionate about hydrogeology, groundwater modelling, and environmental sustainability?

 

We’re looking for a Water Specialist to play a key role in monitoring, compliance, and risk assessment in a major infrastructure project. This position offers the chance to contribute to environmental protection and ensure regulatory adherence while working with a multidisciplinary team.

 

Your Role & Responsibilities

  • Specialise in hydrogeology, understanding how groundwater moves through different geological formations.
  • Develop and implement groundwater models to assess water levels, quality, and movement.
  • Conduct groundwater risk assessments as part of consent applications for construction activities.
  • Oversee and interpret surface and groundwater monitoring data to ensure compliance.
  • Determine optimal locations for borehole drilling and oversee installation for monitoring purposes.
  • Maintain and manage monitoring wells and data collection systems to uphold best practices.
  • Work closely with environmental teams to mitigate water-related risks.
  • Support incident response efforts and liaise with relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensure accurate and up-to-date data management and reporting.

 

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in geology, hydrogeology, hydrology, environmental science, or related fields.
  • Strong data management and analytical skills, particularly for groundwater modelling.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel as needed.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and collaboration.

 

Desirable Skills & Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of environmental regulations and compliance standards.
  • Experience in large-scale infrastructure or environmental projects.
  • Understanding of ISO 14001 environmental management systems.
  • Interest in professional accreditation (e.g., CIWEM, CEnv, FGS).
  • Postgraduate qualification in hydrogeology, environmental science, or related disciplines is a plus.
