Lead Mechanical Design Engineer - West Midlands - up to 57,000 + Benefits


I am currently recruiting for a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer to work for a key client of mine who are based in the West Midlands. Salary up to 57,000 + Benefits.


The organisation has been established for over 100 years with a heavy presence in Europe for over 30 years. They are worldwide leaders in the design, development and manufacture of highly complex Special Purpose Machinery to their specific sector that they serve.


To support the growth of the business forecast alongside being able to deal with the projects they currently have on the go they have the need to appoint another Lead Mechanical Design Engineer on a permanent basis.


In this role as a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, you will be based at the European centre of excellence designing and developing very complex Special Purpose Machinery. Being a lead role you will be expected to mentor, guide and challenge the less experienced engineers whilst having overall responsibility for the design efforts and output from the design team. The role will be a combination of modifications and alterations to existing products in line with customer requirements as well as blank sheet of paper designs as and when required for bespoke products that the customer requires. You will be working in a closely-knit team of other highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineers but will also be in communication with other departments within the R&D department. The organisation works in a fast-paced environment that is constantly changing with demands and project needs.


Requirements:


- Previous experience working as a Lead Mechanical Design Engineer, Senior Mechanical Design Engineer or similar role
- 3D CAD (Ideally Solidworks)
- Experience in Sheet Metal / Fabrication
- Experience mentoring or managing other engineers

Desirable Requirements:


- Experience designing Special Purpose Machinery / Conveyors / Automated Equipment
- Experience in Machined Components
- Experience in Plastic Fabrication
- Experience working in an environment where projects are turned around very quickly
- Experience in Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC
