Hygiene Operative

My client is a leading supplier to customers throughout the UK. Due to continued growth, they are currently seeking a Hygiene Operative to join their team based in Moira.

This is a Full-Time, Permanent position.

Working hours: Monday to Friday: 6am – 2.30pm.

With a salary of £23,800 per annum.

Job Role:

You will have a vital role in maintaining cleanliness and hygiene standards throughout the production facility. This role is essential to ensuring products meet food safety and quality regulations. You will be responsible for the thorough cleaning and sanitization of production areas, machinery, and equipment.

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience in cleaning down production lines, ideally within a food manufacturing or industrial cleaning environment.
  • Experience with cleaning equipment and chemicals used in an industrial or food production setting.
  • Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards such as HACCP (Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points) is preferred.
  • Ability to follow detailed cleaning schedules and instructions.
  • Good attention to detail and high standards of cleanliness.
  • Basic understanding of health and safety practices in a food production environment.
  • Ability to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine cleaning and sanitization of all production areas, including equipment, machinery, floors, walls, and surfaces.
  • Ensure all work areas are kept clean, tidy, and free from contamination in line with food safety regulations.
  • Clean and sanitize tools and equipment used in the production process, ensuring compliance with hygiene standards.
  • Follow cleaning schedules as outlined by the Operations Manager, ensuring that all tasks are completed on time and to the highest standard.
  • Use approved cleaning chemicals and materials safely and efficiently, following instructions and safety protocols.
  • Ensure that personal hygiene and housekeeping practices meet the company’s stringent hygiene and safety standards.
  • Ensure that all hygiene activities comply with company policies, food safety regulations (HACCP, BRC, or equivalent), and any relevant health and safety guidelines.
  • Record and report any hygiene-related issues or deviations from standard operating procedures.
  • Conduct regular checks on the cleanliness of facilities and equipment, immediately reporting any potential contamination risks.
  • Safely dispose of waste materials according to company procedures, including the segregation of recyclable materials.
  • Ensure waste bins are regularly emptied and cleaned to prevent contamination or odour.
  • Clean and disinfect food production machinery and equipment after use, ensuring no residues remain that could affect product quality or safety.
  • Perform deep cleaning of equipment during scheduled downtime or maintenance periods.
  • Work closely with the Production team to ensure that cleaning activities do not interrupt production schedules.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments, including Production and Maintenance, to ensure cleaning procedures are carried out efficiently.
  • Follow all health and safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and correct handling of cleaning chemicals.
  • Report any safety hazards or issues immediately to the Operations Manager.
