We are delighted to be working in partnership with our client a leading global manufacturer with offices across EMEA and the US who have a new position of Financial Accountant. As the Financial Accountant, our client is looking for ambitious, forward thinking individual to join the European Team.
The role is based on our client’s near Newcastle site and is supporting the Financial Controller to ensure compliance in all financial systems and help drive financial reporting and control across multiple UK legal entities.
Maintaining a robust and efficient financial control environment whilst driving a culture of continuous improvement.
The offices are a short walk from the train station and other public transport.
Our client is seeking the following skills and attributes
- Ideally a Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with industry experience as a Financial Accountant.
- Strong accounting knowledge including statutory and consolidated reporting (US GAAP an advantage),
- A keen eye for detail coupled with strong analytical skills.
- A confident communicator able to liaise at all levels.
- Excel skills and experience of SAP and Oracle HFM would be advantageous
- Strong technical accounting skills on entity and divisional level IFRS or US-GAAP.
Key Responsibilities Include :
- Month end corporate reporting within strict deadlines for UK non-trading/investment entities, consulting with US.
- Accounts payable, banking, receivables GL accounting daily tasks for non-trading/investment entities
- Key point of contact and liaison with EMEA Shared Service Centre (SSC) re. GL accounting, AR, and AP for UK entities
- Support month end closing of ledgers of entities not supported by EMEA SSC
- Preparation of monthly business forecasts and providing variance analysis actual v budget v forecast
- Support statutory accounts preparation in accordance with accounting standards.
- VAT return preparation and submission to HMRC
- Developing and continuous improvement of internal financial controls. Ensuring work across the UK finance team is performed in line with documented SOX control activities.
- Oversee and monitor compliance re. international trade (e.g. export control documentation)
- Work closely with UK Tax Manager in preparation of Corporation Tax packs and transfer pricing matters.
- Point of contact for technical accounting matters with up-to-date knowledge of new accounting standards (US GAAP)
- Key point of contact for annual statutory and control audits for all UK entities
- Support the Financial Controller with ad hoc reporting and projects as required.
- Ideally take responsibility for all control activities where you are the process owner and that are subject to Sarbanes-Oxley Act 404 Compliance: To ensure that the work is performed in line with the documented control activities.
Consult with EMEA Regional finance teams, US Finance, Tax, Treasury and External Auditors.
