A leading electronics manufacturing company is seeking a self-driven and motivated Production SMT Technician to join its team at a new state-of-the-art facility in Cramlington. As a Production SMT Technician, you will play an essential role in the production process, ensuring the assembly and rework of units and sub-assemblies to the highest standards. Key Responsibilities:
- Operate and maintain automated and manual assembly equipment, such as Pick & Place, screen printers, AOI inspection machines, and reflow solder equipment.
- Perform mechanical assembly operations for both assemblies and sub-assemblies.
- Apply IPC soldering standards for inspection and quality control.
- Assemble printed circuit boards (PCBs) to meet or exceed quality standards and follow provided documentation.
- Place components on PCBs and hand solder as required.
- Manage machine operation, setup, line maintenance, and assist with training and support for other operators.
- Ensure efficient operation of work centres to meet production schedules.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to programs, processes, or machinery to maintain smooth production flow.
Working Hours:
- Monday to Friday, with shift hours from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm or 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm (37.5 hours per week).
- During training, standard working hours of 8:00 am to 4:00 pm may be required.
Ideal Candidate:
- Strong knowledge of electronics and components.
- Experience with Pick & Place machines, reflow, AOI, and screen-printing programming.
- At least 2 years of experience in an electronics production environment is preferred.
- Excellent attention to detail and precision in assembly work.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced production line environment.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within teams.
- Willingness to train and learn at the company’s other facilities prior to the main site opening to ensure proper process handover.
Salary and Benefits:
- Competitive annual salary range of £25,000 - £30,000, depending on experience.
