Job Title: Mechanical FitterLocation: CramlingtonReports to: Engineering ManagerTemp role 3 month ongoing contract, £18.00 per hour PAYE, immediate startKey Responsibilities:Assembly & Installation:* Assemble and install mechanical components and systems according to technical drawings and specifications.* Ensure equipment is set up and aligned correctly.* Conduct visual inspections to ensure installation complies with quality standards.Maintenance & Repairs:* Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on machinery and mechanical systems.* Troubleshoot and diagnose faults in mechanical equipment, using tools and diagnostic equipment.* Replace or repair defective parts and components.Testing & Commissioning:* Conduct functional tests to ensure that equipment is running smoothly and meets performance standards.* Perform adjustments or fine-tuning of machinery and systems where required.Safety & Compliance:* Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies.* Report any hazards or safety concerns immediately to the supervisor.* Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repairs.Tool & Equipment Use:* Use hand and power tools, welding equipment, and other machinery as required to complete tasks.* Maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.Key Requirements:Qualifications & Experience:* Relevant qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3 in Mechanical Engineering, City & Guilds, or equivalent or time served).* Proven experience working as a Mechanical Fitter or in a similar mechanical engineering role.* Familiarity with working on large machinery and complex mechanical systems.Technical Skills:* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and manuals.* Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and mechanical testing equipment.* Experience in fault-finding and problem-solving in mechanical systems.Desirable:* Welding or fabrication experience.* Experience in a particular industry (manufacturing, construction, marine power generation).
