About the Role:We are looking for an experienced Wood Machinist skilled in wood lathe operations to produce high-quality wooden components for our furniture frames. This role requires expertise with various hardwoods and machinery to create pieces for both standard and bespoke orders.
Key Responsibilities:
- Component Production: Craft wooden furniture components to meet job order specifications, ensuring they adhere to quality standards.
- Machine Operation: Set up and operate a range of machines, including manual copy lathes, cross-cut and rip saws, planning machines, spindle moulders, and sanding equipment.
- Precision Cutting: Use specialist equipment to saw and cut wood to exact sizes.
- Machine Monitoring: Regularly check machine operations, make trial cuts, adjust as needed, and report any issues.
- Quality Control: Shape components to desired specifications and ensure they meet production standards.
- Workplace Maintenance: Keep the workspace clean and safe, following all health and safety guidelines.
Skills & Experience:
- Experience with conventional wood-turning equipment, especially lathes, is a significant advantage.
- Experience in Wood Assembly is beneficial.Â
- Knowledge of wood properties and skills in spindle, ring fence, and lathe work.
- Industrial experience with various machine techniques preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to work to deadlines and solve problems as they arise.
