A leading electronics manufacturing company is looking for a skilled and motivated Wave Solder Machine Operator to join its dynamic team at a new, cutting-edge facility in Cramlington. As a key member of the production team, you will be responsible for operating wave solder equipment and ensuring the quality and efficiency of product assembly. This is an excellent opportunity to be part of a fast-growing company in a state-of-the-art environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operate automated and/or manual assembly equipment, including Wave Solder and Inspection machines (Omron, ERSA experience preferred).
  • Perform mechanical assembly operations of assemblies and sub-assemblies to meet established quality standards.
  • Follow PCB board layouts, BOM part lists, and instructions to assemble, rework, and reassemble units and sub-assemblies.
  • Conduct hand soldering and place components on PCBs as required.
  • Assemble and test final products, ensuring they meet quality standards before packaging.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot wave solder equipment, including setup, line maintenance, and de-drossing the solder bath.
  • Collaborate with the production team to ensure smooth workflows and timely completion of orders.

Working Hours:

  • Monday to Friday, with shift hours from 6:00 am to 2:00 pm or 2:00 pm to 10:00 pm (37.5 hours per week).
  • During training, you may be required to work standard hours of 8:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Ideal Candidate:

  • Strong knowledge of electronics and components.
  • Experience with re-flow, wave soldering, and AOI processes.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in a production environment, with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a production line and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work within a team.
  • A qualification in electronics or a related field is desirable.
  • IPC and JSTD certifications preferred but not essential.
  • Willingness to train at other facilities before the main site opens to ensure smooth process handover.

Salary and Benefits:

  • Competitive annual salary between £26,000 - £27,000, depending on experience.
  • Overtime available, paid at 1.5x the hourly rate.
