About the Role
We’re on the lookout for a Sous Chef to join our talented kitchen team at our charming country pub in the heart of the Surrey Hills. You’ll be second-in-command in the kitchen, working closely with the Head Chef to maintain high standards, bring fresh ideas to the menu, and help lead a positive, high-energy team.

Your Key Responsibilities

Support the Head Chef in daily kitchen operations

Take charge in the Head Chef’s absence

Lead service and ensure smooth day-to-day kitchen flow

Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation

Contribute to menu planning and dish development

Ensure food hygiene and safety standards are consistently met

Train, supervise, and mentor junior kitchen staff

Manage inventory, ordering, and stock rotation
What We’re Looking For

Proven experience as a Sous Chef or Senior Chef de Partie (minimum 3–4 years)

Strong leadership and communication skills

Excellent culinary skills with a good understanding of seasonal, fresh cooking

Calm, organised, and able to thrive in a busy kitchen

A passion for food, hospitality, and team collaboration

A good grasp of food safety, allergen, and hygiene regulations
Preferred but not essential:

Formal culinary training

Driving licence (due to rural location)

Ability to commute or relocate to Ewhurst, Cranleigh (essential)
