Salary: Qualified HLTA: £25,310 - £28,015 (FTE £29,509 - £32,663) Unqualified: £21,917 - £24,295 (FTE £25,554 - £28,326) per annum
St Josephs Specialist Trust is a special school, college, childrens home and an adult supported living house in Cranleigh, Surrey, midway between Guildford and Horsham. They have an opportunity for a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Media) to commence as soon as possible.
The Role
They are looking for the right person to lead in Creative Media. They will be enthusiastic and confident in areas such as photography and filmmaking, have a relevant qualification and can demonstrate that they have a track record in using these technologies. They will be expected to lead lessons and one to one sessions in Creative Media as well as supporting in school events, documenting life and events at St Josephs in photographs and film and assisting colleagues within the classroom. They will be part of a dynamic and supportive Creative Arts team who are known for having big plans and working collegiately.
Reporting to the Head of Creative Arts, the role will include:
- The promotion of teaching and learning and interest in the media
- Development and support of students using media resources
- Supporting staff in recording and evidencing student work including management of photography and media video and music files
- Working with the Head of Creative Arts, Pathway Leaders and Class Teachers in developing arts-based events and productions
- Providing creative ideas and solutions within the team to support growth and development of teaching and learning within the department
- Providing media support for school meetings when required, including visuals for the half-termly reflection
- Providing weekly social media updates for Instagram, X and Facebook
- Key accountabilities of an HLTA
Skills and Qualifications
They welcome applications from qualified HLTAs or unqualified (and prepared to undertake HLTA training), with relevant experience. All applicants must be able to demonstrate a keen interest in media. Relevant media skills and qualifications in media should be emphasised in the supporting statement of the application form.
Hours of work each week during term time and inset days are Monday 08.30am-16.00pm, Tuesday - Thursday 08.30am 16.15pm and Friday 08.30am 15.45pm plus 30 minutes per week that can be worked flexibly to suit operational needs (with a 30-minute unpaid break each day). This role is for 38 weeks term time plus 5 CPD days.
Own transport desirable due to the semi-rural location of the Trust (there is no train station in Cranleigh)
