Role: Service Technician
Salary/package: Basic annual salary for 40 hrs p.w. - *£40,000 - £45,000 per annum + private health, life assurance, 25 days holiday

*Salary could be in the region of £46+k once working in the field with overtime

In House Hours: Mon – Fri 08:00 – 16:30.

On Site Hours: may be considerably higher/different a per the customer/job requirement

O/T at 1.5 basic hourly rate (over 40 basic hrs per week). It is essential you are prepared to work overtime. (During the first 3-6 months of training there will be less overtime required)

Company car, fuel card (private fuel UK only provided), AA assistance, mobile telephone, and computer provided

Out of pocket expenses reimbursed
 

Site Location: Commutable from Crawley, Horsham, East Grinstead, Redhill, Croydon, Brighton and surrounding areas

A leading manufacturing company are looking for a Service Technician. This position is ideally suited to those with experience of full-time field service work, who like a role with worldwide travel. Trips are usually between 1-5 days long and thus you will usually be home at weekends. However, early starts/late returns are the norm. Occasional service jobs require a 2-week scheduling. You will be out on site approx. 80% and in house 20%.

*Our client are an essential business and have been travelling continually throughout the pandemic in the UK. Worldwide travel will be a requirement when COVID rules permit.

The company have around 130 staff across UK, USA & Europe – 115 staff in UK. They are well established with a low staff turnover, mostly due to the fact they are a good company to work for with their open and transparent communication, offering careers rather than just jobs.

Responsibilities

You will be given comprehensive training in Production to gain knowledge of components, assembly (electrical/electronic and mechanical), repairs and refurbishments, product testing, analysis and fault finding skills.

You will then accompany other experienced Service Technicians on installation and service jobs on site at customer premises.

Once a sufficient level of competency has been gained you will go to site unaccompanied to carry out the full range of tasks

Requirements

  • Electrical Engineering City & Guilds level 1&2&3 or HNC/HND and/or 17th/18th edition, or electrical degree.
  • Extensive recent experience of 3 phase industrial environments.
  • Recent experience working in a field service role (could involve: commissioning, service breakdowns, installations, warranty visits etc.)
  • Previous experience travelling for work.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must speak clear fluent English
  • Must be free to travel worldwide with no restrictions
  • Must have a current manual full driving licence with no more than 3 points on.

Beneficial skills

  • Knowledge of PCBs & PLCs (up-loading of pogrammes and interrogation of fault record for trouble shooting).
  • European language ability (in addition to English)
