Bid Manager
£600 per day negotiable
Morson are recruiting for a Senior Bid Manager to lead the bid for vital Inservice support within the defence aerospace industry. Our client provide Avionics products to the MoD and are looking for an experienced bid manager who will be able to mobilise the existing bid team and secure a long term extension for their Inservice support. They are ideally looking for someone with knowledge of Avionics systems, and coordinated bids where the MoD is the primary customer. You will need knowledge of the Qualifying Defence Contracts process.
The bid process is in its pricing stage, so the intention is to offer this role on a 10-month contract basis. The role is hybrid remote, with 3 days a week expected to be based in Crawley. You would also need to be able to travel to customer sites and supplier sites every few weeks. We are looking to pay £600 per day Umbrella inside IR35 for this role, but we can negotiate the rate if required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Delivery Inservice support bid in the defence avionics industry and to ensure that the Initial Project baseline for Project execution is robust.
- Lead a multi-disciplinary Bid team to deliver high quality business winning proposals.
- Embed a strong sense of delivery accountability and a proactive risk and opportunity management culture.
- Creating and controlling the Bid schedule and resource plan.
- Establishing and controlling the requirements baseline, including compliance traceability, work packages and the end-to-end estimating process
- Ensuring the creation of robust Initial Project Baselines for delivery post-contract award.
- Supporting the management of customer, supplier and partner relationships.
- Tailoring and application of Bid Governance as appropriate, including Bid Stage Gates, Bid Reviews and Project Characterisation
- Ensuring appropriate focus on cash management and achieving a positive net cash profile associated with the Initial Project baseline
- Leading and coordinating PQQ responses, including reviews, governance and final sign-off
- Establishing and maintaining the Bid data repository; ensuring migration to the future Project data repository as part of a manged handover to the Project execution team
Required Experience:
- A proven track record of delivering successful Bids and/or Projects in contexts relevant to defence engineering
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams in achieving challenging timelines
- Constructed compelling proposals and/or solutions that meet customer needs
- Gate Bid Lifecycle processes; efficiently applying reviews and ensuring that business risk is appropriately managed
- Management and control of technical and non-technical requirements on complex bids and projects
- Strong negotiation skills with the ability to deal with customers, partners, suppliers and other parts of the business
- Strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills with written presentation and report writing skills.
- Organisation and analytical skills in complex environments
- Experience of SSRO or Qualifying Defence Contracts (QDC)
Desirable Experience:
- Bid management experience within Avionics systems
- Professional Capture, Bid or Proposal Management Training/Certification E.g. Shipley, APMP
- Professional Project Management qualifications - IPMA Level C or equivalent
- Experience of working to a Target Price or ‘Price to Win'
Recognising the RESTRICTED nature of the work, suitable candidates will be SC cleared or eligible for this level of clearance
