We're looking for a Library Officer to join Crawley Library!
Our libraries deliver essential community-based support, promoting the benefits of reading for everyone, offering a quality, trusted information service, bridging digital inclusion through supporting safe access to online resources, and curating a programme of events and activities that meet the needs of targeted audiences.

Salary: £27,334 to £29,777 per annum. You will also receive an additional Crawley Allowance and entitlement to Saturday Enhancement to working 7 hours 35 minutes for 1 in 2 Saturdays.
Contract Type: Permanent
Working Pattern: Full-time (37 hours per week). This role requires the successful candidate to work a shift pattern. Monday to Saturday

You will need to be able to travel independently around the county, including to areas that may not be easily accessible by public transport. Pool cars and pool bikes available (subject to availability).

The Opportunity
Crawley is a vibrant and welcoming modern library nestled in a spacious building that features a charming café, conveniently located near the heart of the town. This community hub also proudly hosts the Business & Intellectual Property Centre and Employ Crawley.
The library partners with Crawley College, serving as the lending library for all their further and higher education courses, making it an invaluable resource for lifelong learners.
As a Library Officer, you will maintain the front-line service and supervise the library team ensuring a high level of customer care.
The role demands exceptional people management skills, a strong understanding of a library or customer service environment, and a keen ability to organize both staff and resources effectively.
You will be considered a subject matter expert in co-ordinating teams of dedicated library staff, addressing often challenging queries from the public, and ensuring that our libraries run smoothly and efficiently.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Library Manager and other senior library staff to passionately plan and deliver the service, and they may also find themselves engaged in inspiring county-wide projects and initiatives.
