Day & Night Shift Role

Based in Crawley

Up £70,000 – Depending on experience

Are you an experienced technical / production manager within an engineering maintenance or production environment, curious about how your career might look in the railway industry?

Ganymede are supporting Europe’s leading original equipment manufacturer to recruit into a Production Manager role, leading some of their successful shift maintenance teams at the Three Bridges Depot.

This is an outstanding opportunity for either an experienced rolling stock maintenance professional to assume responsibility of larger teams, or for an experienced production manager from allied industries to take the first step into an exciting career on UK’s railway.

The Role

You will be working for a global engineering leader, who are at the forefront of innovation to deliver technical solutions to the ever-changing challenges the modern world presents. Within the rail sector they have a brand and reputation synonymous with quality, delivering reliable, comfortable, high performing fleets that can be found across metro, commuter, intercity and high-speed routes around the world.

This specific role is to lead the production teams (up to 20 staff per shift) at their Three Bridges Depot, supporting the successful operation of some of the busiest commuter routes into London.

You will be planning, preparing and delivering maintenance activities for your team ensuring service deliverables are met and that fleets operate on time. You will also be tasked with identifying continuous improvement opportunities to enhance service performance.

This is a safety critical role; you will be responsible for leading health and safety behaviours within the depot.

As Production Manager you will also be responsible for the development of your team, identifying training needs and undertaking succession planning to offer routes for growth for high performers.

This is a shift-based role working days, nights and weekends, 8-10hour shifts on a rotating basis.

Remuneration & Benefits

A basic salary of up to £70k is available subject to your experience undertaking similar roles. In addition, further benefits are included as below

  • 26 days annual leave + bank holidays
  • Annual bonus between 10-20%
  • 10% pension scheme
  • Shares in the company after 3 years

It operates award winning apprenticeship and leadership programs, recognised at the National Apprenticeship Awards in the UK, highlighting their inclusive, supportive and development focused environment for its employees.

You will be working for a business that wants to make a difference – if you’re passionate about technology and want to be part of an organisation at the forefront of innovation, this is the place where your ideas can truly take off.

About You

If you are from a technical background (rolling stock experience preferred, but not essential) and with previous management experience, we want to hear from you!

We will be considering applicants already in a similar management role or a supervisor/team leader/high level technician within the rail industry who is looking to make the step up.

To enhance your application you should be able to demonstrate that you;

  • Hold a minimum NVQ 3 / apprenticeship in an engineering discipline
  • Have sound knowledge and experience of systems / software within engineering maintenance environments
  • Are experienced in planning, developing and delivering maintenance activities to critical deadlines
  • Prioritise health and safety, ensuring that all processes and procedures are followed.

This is physically active role, working shifts, within a safety critical environment. As such you will be expected to successfully complete a pre-employment medical (including drug and alcohol screen) in advance of your employment
