At DH Gatwick we are looking for a Transport Planner for an extremely reptable and profesional client based in Crawley.
The right candidate will be responsible to successfully coordinate the day-to-day running of the company transport operation by achieving full utilisation of the fleet and maximising income for the company. This will be supported by other various departments.
The right candidate will need to ensure drivers are dispatched with efficient and effective delivery schedules in good operational time. A role focused on business development as well as the operational imperatives of the role.
Key Responsibilities/ Accountabilities (working closely with the Central Hub planning and collections team):
- Ensure effective communication is maintained within the business ensuring teamwork is always strong and collaborative.
- Using correct utilisation of staff (including agency cover bookings) and vehicles to complete daily operations planner ensuring resources are used for maximum efficiency and cost effectiveness.
- To manage control of the vehicle fleet ensuring haulage routes are both achievable and vehicles are used to best efficiency, maintaining and updating any amendments throughout the day so the information is live for all to access.
- Arrange and oversee loading/pre-loading activity to ensure a timely despatch.
- Deal with drivers queries appropriately, and ensuring driver’s collections and deliveries are completed to schedule including undertaking driver (de)briefing.
- Deal with customer queries and complaints effectively, ensuring that goodwill is maintained.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with our customers, other depots and our staff within the company.
- To accurately prepare administration within set timeframes required
- Ensure all systems are kept updated including accurate data entry, POD management, accurate pricing and costings checks, invoice checks,
- To answer the telephones in a timely and appropriate manner
- To carry out other tasks that may be required for the company from time to time.
- Adhere to health and safety policy, and other requirements relating to care of equipment.
This is an immediate start Role and the career Progresion is evident and realistic. The Salary is £28k and hours of Work are Mon-Fri 0700-1600 (under Review)
