  • Hours: 40 hours per week

Reed Education are seeking a dedicated Primary Teacher to join our team at a supportive educational setting. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality teaching and learning to students in years 2 - 6 who have difficulties with communication and social interaction, typically associated with Autism.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Contribute to the delivery and development of the curriculum, considering the educational, physical, and social needs of the students within a supportive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with other staff members as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Utilise and maintain short, medium, and long-term plans in delivering the curriculum.
  • Set, monitor, and review personalised targets to optimise learning for each individual.
  • Monitor, assess, review, and report on the progress and work of students to parents, team members, senior staff, examination, and funding bodies through reports and identified meetings as directed by school policies and procedures.
  • Develop lesson plans and analyse outcomes for continuous improvement.
  • Contribute to the review of Statements and EHC plans, PEP, and LAC reviews.
  • Provide clear structures for lessons maintaining pace, motivation, and challenge.
  • Maintain an overall awareness of current issues in the field of autism to plan for effective teaching and learning.
  • Work in a non-confrontational manner, ensuring individual needs are met.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • PGCE, QTS, or equivalent teaching qualification and evidence of in-service training.
  • Ability to teach across a range of subjects.
  • Relevant knowledge and experience of pupils with ASD, SEMH, and PDA profile.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
  • Experience of managing a range of approaches to behaviour, including managing behaviours that challenge.
