Job Overview:

Main Purpose & Summary of Role:
To manage the commercial resources (people and finance) of the assigned project to maximise planned gross margin through the placement and control of contracts and subcontracts. To assess, review, and mitigate commercial and contractual risks. To support the authorisation and submission of project variations. To authorise the placement of contracts, subcontracts, material, and plant orders. To maximise cash flow through the control, measurement (including quality), and valuation of work, and the invoicing of customers and payment of suppliers. This role would be focusing on recladding projects.

Main Duties:

  • To support the appraisal of staff members.
  • To establish and maintain the best relationship with the client, through and beyond construction, to satisfactory completion, and to deliver improved value to the client and company.
  • To assess, control, mitigate, and report commercial risks.
  • To control, measure (including quality), and value work.
  • To recognise contractual, commercial, and operational risks and propose ways to mitigate them.
  • To support the fulfilment of contracts safely, on time, and to the required quality while minimising costs.
  • To provide regular, accurate, consolidated reports and forecasts for the project to area management and customers on:
    • Risks
    • Finance
    • Operational performance
    • Capability and capacity
    • Compliance with policies and procedures
  • Produce & maintain CVR/CTC & issue monthly to the Managing QS or Operations Director.
  • Agree to the release of sub-contractor retention.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant codes of conduct.

Qualifications:

  • BSc or HND (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying preferred or other equivalent commercially related subject.
  • Preferably qualified to CIOB or RICS accreditation.
  • Relevant CSCS Card.
  • Asbestos Awareness.
  • Awareness and experience of construction methods, technology, standard forms of measurement and forms of contract, and health and safety requirements.
  • Understand and follow laid down procedures, for example, standing orders and financial regulations.
  • Computer literate in MS Office.
  • Ability to work on-site where necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant codes of conduct and professional standards.
