Job Overview:We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Geography Teacher to join a progressive and dynamic secondary school that values academic excellence. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in engaging students with the world around them, helping them understand complex geographical concepts and human-environment interactions. You will inspire students to think critically about physical and human geography, equipping them with skills for analysing and solving global challenges. Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging and comprehensive geography lessons across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5, adapting to the needs of students with varying abilities.
  • Teach a broad range of topics, including physical geography (e.g., climate, landforms) and human geography (e.g., urbanisation, globalisation), ensuring students develop a deep understanding of key concepts.
  • Assess and monitor student progress, providing timely and constructive feedback while maintaining strong communication with parents and guardians.
  • Contribute to the development and enhancement of the geography curriculum, ensuring alignment with the National Curriculum and exam board specifications.
  • Lead and support extracurricular activities such as geography clubs, field trips, or environmental projects to deepen students' engagement with the subject.
  • Stay current with the latest educational trends and best practices in geography teaching through continuous professional development.
  • Maintain effective classroom management strategies, upholding school behaviour policies to create a focused and respectful learning environment.
  • Collaborate with colleagues across departments to offer cross-curricular learning opportunities that enhance students' understanding of geography in relation to other subjects.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent, with a specialisation in Geography or a related field.
  • A degree in Geography, Environmental Science, or a closely related discipline.
  • Experience teaching geography at the secondary level, ideally across Key Stages 3 and 4 (Key Stage 5 experience is a plus).
  • Strong knowledge of the UK National Curriculum and relevant exam specifications (GCSE, A-Level).
