Hoe Valley School, an oversubscribed secondary school with a newly opened Sixth Form, is seeking an inspiring Head Teacher to lead the school into the next phase of its development. This is a unique opportunity to guide a growing school, known for its commitment to excellence, innovation, and community engagement.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Collaborate with the School’s Governors to develop and monitor the School’s vision, values, and ethos.
  • Lead the development of the School Development Plan aligned with the agreed 3-5 year strategy.
  • Promote and maintain an ethos of excellence and aspiration, focusing on continuous improvement.
  • Manage school staff through rigorous appraisal processes, ensuring a culture of accountability.
  • Lead recruitment, appointment, deployment, and development of staff.
  • Oversee the implementation of school policies and ensure the highest standards of teaching and learning.
  • Ensure policies relating to attendance, behaviour management, and safeguarding are consistently implemented.
  • Maintain a focus on the quality of teaching, ensuring all students are supported and challenged effectively.
  • Prepare students for success in examinations and foster a culture of high aspirations.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree at 2:1 or higher.
  • Qualified Teacher Status through a PGCE, GTP, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5 years of teaching experience with successful leadership and management experience in a school.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with excellent numeracy and communication abilities.
  • Proven record of leading positive changes and achieving excellent outcomes for students.
  • Desirable: NPQH/NPQSL or equivalent and experience in senior leadership within a diverse community school.
