We are currently working with a school based in West Sussex and they are looking for an experenced SEN Learning Support Assistant on a full time basis, to start ASAP.

Overview

A distinguished special educational needs institution is looking for dedicated individuals to facilitate learning activities and support students across various classroom environments, including one-on-one sessions. This accredited school, with a commendable rating, serves students with autism, ADHD, and other complex needs. Most students have a Statement of Special Educational Needs or an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP). The committed staff work tirelessly to cultivate a learning environment that promotes the best possible outcomes for all pupils.

Role: Learning Support Assistant

Specific Duties Include:

  • Working as directed by teachers and senior staff.
  • Understanding how a pupil’s learning is affected by their physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development, and comprehending child development stages.
  • Utilizing ICT effectively for classroom and management support.
  • Providing support and encouragement to children and young people.
  • Motivating pupils and promoting self-esteem.
  • Assisting in the marking of pupils’ work and recording progress accurately.
  • Encouraging children to value their experiences and knowledge.
  • Staying up to date with the school’s policies, including Health and Safety and Child Protection.
  • Being familiar with the SEN Code of Practice.
