Primary SEMH Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join an all-through special school for boys aged 5-18 years old. Located in the West Sussex countryside, the school boasts state-of-the-art equipment and facilities. Upkeeping a focus on safety, physical and emotional wellbeing, and creating a happy environment that supports the individual needs of pupils.   • Work with children who have complex emotional needs, recognising situations to ensure de-escalation before disruption.
  • Maintain good relationships with pupils, exercise appropriate authority, and act decisively when necessary.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how pupils learn and how to meet their individual requirements.
  • Support the delivery of lessons, contributing to the creation of a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Assist in the preparation of teaching materials and the organisation of the classroom.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to monitor the progress of students and provide targeted support where needed.
  • Engage with pupils to foster a sense of community and act as a positive role model.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience working with children, particularly those with complex emotional needs.
  • Ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment for students with special needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain good relationships with pupils.
  • A genuine level of care and desire to help students thrive.
  • A driving licence is required due to the rural location of the school.
