Are you an experienced and passionate computing professional looking to inspire the next generation in Digital Production, Design and Development? Crawley College is seeking a Lecturer in Computing, focusing on virtual and Cloud digital environments, emerging technology trends and the application of tools and testing to influence innovation, algorithms and usability to join our fantastic team and help shape our students’ future careers in one of the world’s fastest growing industries.

You will be joining the College at an exciting time, becoming part of our new Institute of Technology. These Institutes of Technology are collaborations between Further Education providers, Universities and employers. They specialise in delivering higher technical education, with the aim of addressing local and regional skills shortages in STEM subjects.

A new multi-million pound facility will support cutting edge training for students on full time, part time and apprenticeship courses.

Key Responsibilities of our Lecturer in Computing:

  • Undertaking teaching and learning related activities, including tutoring, as agreed.
  • Ensuring that appropriate learning materials are prepared and assessments and assignments are undertaken in a timely manner.
  • Undertaking administration and providing reports and statistics regarding student and teaching matters.
  • Taking an active role in the achievement of high individual student retention and success rates, meeting or surpassing the relevant targets for each.
  • Developing curricula and learning activities, taking into consideration literacy and numeracy development, and equality and diversity.
  • Understanding personal responsibilities in relation to Safeguarding.
  • Keeping up-to-date with current issues, changes, and policies relating to the educational sector.
  • Participating in marketing activities and promote the College for the purpose of gaining sponsorship, advertising, good public relations and increased recruitment.
  • Undertaking the delivery of literacy and numeracy.

Our ideal Lecturer in Computing should have the below skills and experience:

  • Level 3 (or equivalent) in related subject
  • Level 2 literacy and numeracy
  • Experience in teaching and assessing learners
  • Relevant industrial/commercial/subject experience
  • Working knowledge of Computing and Esports topics and their delivery
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
  • An understanding of safeguarding vulnerable groups
  • Time management skills, organisational skills and the ability to meet targets and deadlines
