Job Opportunity: Acoustic Engineer
Location: Crewe
Function: Whole Vehicle – Body Acoustics (EGPK)

Contract: Outside IR35

Join our team as an Acoustic Engineer and play a key role in delivering world-class vehicle attribute performance for current and future model lines. Collaborating with the Attribute Technical Manager, you’ll ensure technical development, target setting, and performance delivery, all while upholding high quality standards with a  focus on squeak and rattle.

Role Responsibilities of Acoustic Engineer

  • Attribute Target Development: Conduct competitor benchmarking and analysis to support target setting.
  • Problem Solving & Countermeasures: Lead complex squeak and rattle investigations, including issue detection, root cause analysis, and balanced design recommendations.
  • Testing & Analysis: Deliver attribute testing and analysis using our onsite test rigs and external proving grounds.
  • Concerns Management: Oversee concerns processes, ensuring effective resolution and implementation through design teams.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work with various departments to ensure consistent attribute standards across the business.
  • Outsource Management: Manage activities with key service providers and suppliers.
  • Strategic Development: Support continuous improvement initiatives, identifying new methods, techniques, and technologies to enhance attribute development.

Skills & Experience of Acoustic Engineer

  • Proven experience in product or attribute development and delivery.
  • Expertise in component, system, and vehicle-level specifications and design critique.
  • Hands-on experience with physical and virtual test environments, including simulation, component and whole vehicle rigs, prototype testing, and static/dynamic assessments.
  • Competence in complex concern analysis and root cause investigation.
  • Subjective and objective evaluation skills, including jury evaluation studies.
  • Experience documenting and presenting development statuses, concerns investigations, and countermeasure recommendations.
