Job Title: Quality Engineer - Mulliner

Reports To: Mulliner Quality Manager
Overview
A unique opportunity has arisen for a Quality Engineer to join a prestigious and highly skilled team dedicated to delivering exceptional quality across bespoke, low-volume vehicle projects. This role is integral to ensuring that quality standards are met at every stage of the vehicle lifecycle - from initial engineering through to supplier quality, production inspection, and final vehicle sign-off.
Key Responsibilities
Bought Parts Quality (for allocated projects):
Develop and implement control plans to ensure supplier compliance and part quality.
Manage supplier selection, audits, and accreditations (e.g. IATF, VDA).
Oversee part quality planning including APQP and Maturity Level Assurance.
Approve parts for project integration, ensuring specification compliance.
Build Quality & Inspection Checkpoints:
Define quality check processes throughout the build stages.
Lead quality inspections covering gap/profile checks, color matching, function testing, and cosmetic standards.
Serve as the first escalation point for any quality concerns during vehicle assembly.
End-of-Line & Vehicle Sign-Off:
Set standards for final inspection, both functional and cosmetic, before customer release.
Ensure traceability of all inspection activities and outcomes.
Vehicle Problem Analysis:
Support with pre-handover diagnostics, such as shakedown tests or aesthetic defect analysis.
Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
Liaise with internal quality teams to ensure alignment on vehicles that share content with broader production programs.
Foster strong communication channels for issue resolution and process consistency.
Skills & Experience
Solid experience in low-volume supplier management and automotive quality standards.
Proficient in engineering drawing interpretation and tolerance understanding.
Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
A good grasp of vehicle assembly processes and measurement techniques.
Ability to plan and manage multiple quality-focused projects concurrently.
Technical Knowledge
Skilled in the use of handheld measurement tools.
Familiarity with metal forming, plastic molding, casting, and machining processes.
Comfortable working with suppliers who may lack CAD or 3D measurement capabilities.
Qualifications
A technical or engineering qualification is beneficial but not essential.
Practical knowledge and experience will be prioritized.

Additional Information
Projects typically involve managing between (Apply online only) parts per vehicle.
You may oversee 1-3 concurrent bespoke vehicle projects at any time.
No direct reports or contractor supervision required.
