We are seeking a Connected Car Engineer - Feature Owner – Swarm, Navigation, and Infotainment to join a prestigious automotive manufacturer in Crewe. As part of the Connected Car department, which falls under the Electrical Engineering Division, you will play a pivotal role in integrating, testing, and deploying Connected Services within vehicle model programmes. This will include:

  • Swarm services, including traffic information,
  • Emergency SOS call services,
  • Ability to control vehicle functions from mobile apps,
  • Access vehicle data on mobile apps,
  • Set parameters (Geofence),
  • Search for points of interest, weather, and news in car.

Connected Car Engineer Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the introduction of new connected services for future vehicle projects, specifically within the Swarm, Navigation, and Infotainment categories.
  • Oversee the integration, deployment, and initial testing of existing Swarm, Navigation, and Infotainment services during the development cycle of future ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) Model Year vehicle projects using the MLB-EVO electrical/electronic architecture.
  • Resolve technical issues and manage problem resolution related to the integration of connected services within future vehicle programmes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure connected services meet quality, performance, and regulatory standards.
  • Lead the end-to-end management of the connected services portfolio within your category, ensuring the smooth transition of services across vehicle projects.


Additional Activities of the Connected Car Engineer:

  • Assist with managing the service deployment process and ensure adherence to testing and integration protocols.
  • Respond to and resolve field issues and customer complaints regarding connected services post-deployment.
  • Act as a key point of contact within the Connected Car department for the Swarm, Navigation, and Infotainment service categories.
  • Engage multiple stakeholders across different functions to ensure the successful integration of services.

Connected Car Engineer Skills Required:

  • Essential:
  • Experience with JIRA, Confluence, and MS Office.
  • Ability to work independently and manage assigned tasks effectively.
  • Proven experience in engaging and managing stakeholders across various functions.
  • Strong planning, prioritisation, and communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Desirable:
  • Automotive experience, particularly in connected services.
  • Familiarity with automotive testing methods, processes, and diagnostic tools.
  • Experience with automotive electrical systems and back-end systems.
  • Knowledge of specialist engineering facilities and equipment.

Working Requirements:

  • Availability: 5 days per week, 37 hours per week. Core hours Monday-Thursday 8:00-4:00pm, Friday 8:00-2:30pm. Flexibility is available within these hours to achieve a 37-hour week, with the specific schedule to be agreed upon with the manager.
  • Hybrid working pattern: 3 days per week on-site.
