About the Role:

Adecco working in partnership with Bentley Motors have an amazing opportunity to join our client's innovative R&D Workshops Technical Development Team as an R&D Workshops Engineer (Electrical). This pivotal role involves collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful build and update of cutting-edge R&D vehicles.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collect and compile early technical information and instructions to facilitate R&D vehicle builds and updates.
  • Analyse 2D and 3D data, including technical drawings, vehicle logs, and schematics, to create essential data for vehicle sign-off criteria.
  • Develop clear technical work instructions to guide workshop build activities.
  • Lead the identification of hardware and software update requirements for development vehicles utilising VW Group tools.
  • Drive the resolution of technical issues related to vehicle builds and updates in collaboration with feature owners.
  • Provide both on-site and remote support for Mules, Simulators, Prototypes, and Pre-Series vehicle updates at Crewe and external suppliers.
  • Manage Technical Concerns documentation and key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Assist in the sign-off process of vehicles to meet agreed criteria.
  • Identify technical and process risks while supporting the implementation of effective countermeasures.

The Function:

The Technical Development Team operates within a state-of-the-art R&D Workshop, focusing on two main areas:

  1. Prototype Technical Development: This area generates and executes the technical methods necessary for building or updating R&D vehicles.
  2. Additive Manufacturing: Develops and maintains a world-class additive manufacturing facility accessible to all colleagues.

Skills & Experience:

We are seeking a qualified Workshop Engineer with a degree or equivalent technical experience, possessing a strong understanding of vehicle components, particularly in hybrid and traditional powertrains. The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Proven knowledge and experience in prototype vehicle build and update methods.
  • Technical competence in both Electrical Hardware and Software.
  • Ability to interrogate 2D and 3D technical data effectively.
  • Familiarity with VW Group Electrical Engineering tools (e.g., System 42, CP Tool, Update Centre) and diagnostic tools (e.g., ODIS, Idex) is preferred.
  • Experience with High Voltage vehicles is advantageous.
