Overview of the Role
We are seeking a Seat Functions Engineer to join the Interior Engineering team, focusing on the development of advanced seating functionality. This role involves the technical definition, delivery, and management of innovative vehicle seat systems, incorporating both electrical and mechanical elements. You will work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and technical partners to ensure the successful integration of seat functions while adhering to Functional Safety Processes (ISO 26262).
Key Responsibilities of the Seat Functions Engineer
- Take technical ownership of the Vehicle Function process within Seating, defining electro-mechanical logic and functionality.
- Develop customer-focused seating concepts, demonstrated through physical prototypes.
- Generate and manage new functional concepts for seat systems.
- Collaborate with technical partners to deliver Functional Safety compliance to ISO 26262 for seating functions.
- Monitor and report functional development status at key project gateways.
- Define requirements for the Architecture Team to support project delivery.
- Liaise with group colleagues to develop future seating functions and ensure alignment with group requirements.
- Stay informed about legislative and technical developments in automotive seating systems.
- Provide technical support to non-engineering functions on function-related topics.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Background in Electronics or Software Engineering, with a strong understanding of automotive systems.
- Proven experience in vehicle communication architectures such as CAN, LIN, and FlexRay.
- Expertise in software modelling techniques for system development.
- Strong coordination and organisational skills.
- Ability to independently define customer functionality with effective problem-solving skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of Systems Engineering (V-model) for system development.
- Experience in function definition and software-based logic modelling.
- Flexible team player with the ability to interact effectively across organisational levels.
Qualifications
- Degree in Engineering with a focus on Electronics, Software, or Mechatronics, would be ideal.
