Job Description
- The Planning Engineer is responsible for developing, agreeing and delivering detailed planning requirements and concerns closure for a specific Manufacturing Zone / Technology from Pre-series through series production to EOP.
- The Production Planning Engineer must deliver to the agreed Quality, Cost and Delivery targets whilst ensuring Health and Safety, IATF16949 and VW Standards compliance.
- Where applicable the Planning Engineer is responsible for ensuring that Manufacturing Feasibility is evaluated in line with PEP.
- Responsible for delivery of Quality Planning (APQP) processes and activities in Pre-series and Series Production ensuring internal and external audit compliance.
- Responsible for manufacturing sign-off of Bid specs and product B-release in-line with project timings and PEP deliverables.
- Identification of Facility, Jig, Fixture and Tooling requirements
- Ensure continual updating of technical knowledge. E.g. Liaison with Group Colleagues, Benchmarking, Training etc.
- Responsible for developing the settings/parameters of equipment and process
- Responsible for implementing engineering change introduction within their zones
- Management of permits and concessions
- Lead the resolution of issues (EG: Feasibility, Process, Build Issues, Fixtures and tools) using the appropriate problem solving techniques and resources. Drive resolution through cross functional working, influencing others to deliver resolutions where necessary.
Qualifications / Skills needed
- Technically competent in product assembly, process design, facilities and standardised work methodology.
- Demonstrable experience at cross functional working within a Manufacturing or Production environment.
- Good working knowledge / experience of processes and business legislation (inc. Health & Safety).
- Is able to provide technical support to the production teams.
- Demonstrates strong communication and influencing skills at all levels across the business.
- Experience in the application of Continuous Improvement and problem solving tools and techniques.
- Technically competent in product manufacturing processes, Group and business processes, process design and standardised work.
- Experience in the practical application of Continuous Improvement tools and techniques.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and measurement data.
- Knowledge of key Health & Safety regulations.
- Ability to communicate at all levels within the organisation.
- Ability to be involved in cross functional teams and projects to achieve business improvement.
- Knowledge of the Product Emergence Process and gateway deliverables.
- Extensive practical knowledge in Problem Solving Techniques
- An Understanding of dimensional management analysis
- Ability to Evaluate K and P times in line with Manufacturing Business Strategy
- An understanding of measurement techniques
- Knowledge of dry builds and properties strategy
- Extensive knowledge of vehicle build processes
