Planning Engineer

Contract: Until 23rd December 2025
35 hours per week – 4 days on-site (flexible on days)
We are seeking a Planning Engineer to support the manufacturing operations for the Seat, Trim & Build – SUV Platform. The Planning Engineer will oversee production from pre-series through to series production and end-of-production (EOP), ensuring smooth and efficient processes. This role demands expertise in APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning), jigs, fixtures, tooling, and manufacturing feasibility. The successful candidate will work across multiple departments to resolve production concerns, ensuring compliance with Health & Safety, IATF16949, and VW Standards.
The Planning Engineer will assess manufacturing feasibility within the Product Emergence Process (PEP), implementing APQP to meet quality standards and ensure audit compliance. Identifying requirements for jigs, fixtures, and tooling, the Planning Engineer will ensure all production tools and processes are optimised for efficiency. With a focus on change management and status reporting, the Planning Engineer will collaborate with cross-functional teams to address concerns related to manufacturing feasibility, tooling, and process concerns, while implementing effective engineering changes.
Key responsibilities include managing facility, jig, fixture, and tooling requirements, as well as overseeing capital expenditure investment justification. The Planning Engineer will also manage budgets, mitigate cost risks, and drive continuous improvements to reduce operational expenses and meet production time targets.
Additionally, the Planning Engineer will ensure the timely delivery of projects, aligning with business requirements for quality, cost, and timing. They will collaborate with manufacturing, logistics, and production teams to drive improvements, while supporting bespoke vehicle production alongside Mulliner. The role involves analysing project risks, monitoring key performance metrics, and maintaining progress through detailed project plans.
Essential skills for the Planning Engineer include expertise in APQP, jig, fixture, and tooling experience, change management, and cross-functional collaboration. Candidates must have a proven track record in managing manufacturing feasibility and delivering continuous process improvements.
