Purpose of the role :
To work within the existing Crewe engineering team to facilitate the proposed HVAC internalisation plan for Crewe.
Responsibilities:
* To be the subject matter expert for HVAC Overhauls and repairs.
* To support the bid process for NPI (New Product Introduction) of rail vehicle HVAC equipment milage based overhauls.
* To be responsible for the generation of new or amendment of existing COI(Component Overhaul Instructions) for Milage based overhauls of rail vehicle (cab/saloon/galley) HVAC units. These will be based on technical requirements documents either received from customers (internal and external) to include where applicable:
* Current EHS Legislative instructions
* Environmental laws
* HVAC type test and routine testing.
* To support the creation of Bills of Materials (BOMs) for the overhaul process.
* To be part of a team managing the obsolescence for all HVAC systems overhauled at the Crewe facility, including where applicable;
* Refrigerant changes and subsequent system redesign
* This management will facilitate life of time buys
* Partial and full system redesign including creation of necessary technical justification documentation (Engineering Change documentation).
* To work with the manufacturing team ensuring the on-time output of products, supporting with general fault finding and resolution to issues
* To provide Project support at Depot for:
* Arising issues
* Planned customer meetings
* FAI/FAR (First article Inspections/First Article Reviews) following launch.
* To support the ongoing industrialisation activities across various HVAC products;
* Including process set up
* Installing tooling best practices
* Responding to safety issues raised with corrective actions
* Continually working to improve and develop the manufacturing footprint
* To be the lead on overhaul modernisation programs, working with UK and Global teams to facilitate the introduction into the Crewe facility.
* To have an awareness and appreciation of global HVAC trends, e.g. refrigerant availability, implication's regarding energy efficiencies
* To possess an ability to be able to understand, read and effectively use electrical schematics to support fault finding.
* To have worked with and understand BUS network systems along with vehicle diagnostic tools which are used in on train control and communication of HVAC equipment.
Qualifications:
* Degree or Higher Certificate in engineering/technical discipline - preferred
* Strong experience in a similar role involving the maintenance and overhaul of safety critical systems/equipment.
* Knowledge of HVAC processes such as Brazing, Use of gasses, System vaccuming
* Knowledge of a maintenance management system BOM management, SAP
* Advanced/business fluent level of English
