Position Summary
To carry out maintenance and overhaul of Rail Vehicles to pre-set standards and procedures, playing an active part in continuously improving quality.
Tasks will include fitting floors, panelling, seating, tables, windows and doors in the interior of rolling stock.
Electrical tasks may include Installation and replacement of traction and rolling stock components, carrying out modifications in and ability to install and terminate vehicle control wiring harnesses.
Key Responsibilities will include:
* Carry out vehicle maintenance work as allocated by the Team Leader, Heavy Maintenance Manager or Production Engineer within set timescales and standards.
* Operate rail vehicles as required, within depot operating limits, and in accordance with relevant procedures.
* Ensure that safety procedures are adhered to in accordance with VMI.
* Ensure that work sheets are signed off promptly and correctly.
* Ensure that Quality and Environmental procedures and instructions are followed
* Attend technical, quality, safety and general briefings, taking action on items raised.
* Carry out any duties within level of competence, as requested.
* Always maintain good housekeeping and standard of cleanliness.
* Use PPE in accordance with standards and instructions.
* Assist colleagues and management to ensure project targets are met.
* Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
* You must have a minimum of or equivalent to one of the following qualifications:
o BTEC certificate in Engineering
o City and Guilds certificate in Engineering
o NVQ Level 3 certificate in Engineering
* Traction and rolling stock qualification preferred.
Skills and Experience
* Must have previous experience, involvement and understanding of vehicle heavy maintenance activities.
* Able to interpret engineering drawings
* Understanding of mechanical and electrical engineering
* Basic IT skills
