CNC Setter/Operator

Location: Crewkerne

Duration: 12 months Initially

Rate: Up to 18 per hour via PAYE

Inside IR35

The purpose of this position is the setting and operating of the sliding head machines for the Citizen department. The position is responsible for health & safety, quality and ensuring accurate data is recorded.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that any health and safety guidelines are followed in accordance with the EHS organisational arrangements roles and responsibilities, including maintaining (and improving were possible) 5S standards and ensuring the correct PPE is worn.
  • Following works orders (routing) instructions.
  • Following tooling and set up sheets to set sliding head CNC machines to machine components within the required tolerances and within the specified setting time.
  • Complete works orders in accordance with Kanban system ensuring any issues (e.g. material availability, quality issues, etc.) are reported immediately to line manager.
  • Undertaking in cycle deburring.
  • Change inserts, drills, etc, when and where appropriate.
  • Recording output and scrap accurately.
  • Dimensional inspection of components using inspection equipment.
  • Ensuring tooling sheets and programs are kept up to date.
  • Able to identify alternative tooling solutions and raise ideas with cell leader.
  • Involvement in the High Performing Team (HPT).
  • Ensuring that the appropriate TPM is undertaken.

  • Ensuring a safe and clean working area.
  • Ensuring excellent quality of components machined.
  • Ensuring setting time and cycle time are achieved.
  • Ensuring accurate data for output and scrap rates recorded.
