Hawk 3 Talent Solutions is hiring on behalf of their client for a Head of Operations (Engineering) based in Crewkerne, Somerset. The role is fully office-based, and we are seeking a candidate with an Engineering background. For the right individual, this position has the potential to progress to the Managing Director level. We are looking for someone who has experience in both hands-on production and shop floor support, as well as senior management experience in a 'Head of Operations' role.

The working hours are 8.00am – 5.00pm Monday - Friday. The annual salary is Circa £70,000 PA.

THE ROLE

As Head of Operations, you will be a results-driven individual with a passion for operations management and experience in procurement, leading and motivating our Operations Team which includes Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain and other Operational Functions throughout the business.  The role forms part of the Senior Management Group reporting directly to the company owner. 

You will be responsible for providing clear and decisive leadership to the departments under your control. You will coach, mentor and develop your direct reports.  You will manage a high-performing team that promotes continuous improvement, added value and cost reductions.  You will oversee manufacturing strategy and contribute to the company’s overall strategy and vision to ensure that operations are aligned with long-term goals.  

You will create and implement best practices, vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to maximize business performance and business growth and ensure regulatory and legal compliance, including ISO9001, ISO14001 and UL.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams to achieve high levels of performance. 
  • Demonstrable experience of leading the operational function of a business in a manufacturing setting, enabling you to make an immediate impact while providing a longer-term contribution to the development and success of our growing business.  
  • Strong project management skills with experience in leading cross-functional teams. 
  • Experience of operating and influencing at a strategic level.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Lean Six Sigma proven track record to analyse, optimise and deploy Six Sigma philosophies and principles, including supporting systems and tools.
  • Understand and able to deploy the principles of Lean Manufacturing.
  • Ability to train, encourage and mentor others in your team.
  • Proven ability to contribute to the development of a company’s overall strategy and vision.
