We are seeking a Financial Controller to oversee and manage our financial operations. This hands-on transactional role includes producing management accounts, handling all month-end duties, providing commentary, dealing with auditors, managing journals and double-entry for an investment fund, and overseeing payroll. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys mentoring and aims to enhance our financial processes through effective business partnering.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Produce accurate and timely management accounts.
  • Handle all month-end responsibilities, ensuring compliance with financial regulations.
  • Provide insightful commentary on financial reports to aid decision-making.
  • Liaise with auditors to ensure all financial operations are transparent and compliant.
  • Manage financial journals and maintain accurate records for double-entry bookkeeping, particularly for investment funds.
  • Oversee the payroll process, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Mentor and support the development of a newly qualified assistant accountant.
  • Engage in finance business partnering to optimise financial performance across the organisation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience as a Financial Controller or similar role.
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial management.
  • Ability to produce detailed management accounts and perform all month-end duties.
  • Experience dealing with auditors and managing financial documentation.
  • Proficient in managing journals, double-entry bookkeeping, and overseeing payroll systems.
  • Excellent mentoring skills and experience in finance business partnering.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Professional accounting qualification (e.g., ACCA, CIMA, ACA).
