About the Role

Main Developer clients are after an experienced Design Manager to join their UK Construction Division on multiple schemes.

You will be someone with a diverse range of experiences leading projects cradle to grave, offering strategic insights and expertise across various construction projects including residential, mixed use, education, commercial, etc.



Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design team: Provide clear direction and guidance to the design team, fostering collaboration and promoting a culture of creativity and innovation.
  • Project Design Management: Manage the design process from concept through to completion, ensuring adherence to budgets, deadlines, and quality standards.
  • Client Communication: Build strong relationships with clients, effectively communicate design concepts and solutions, and actively participate in client presentations and meetings.
  • Design Development: Oversee the development of design concepts, ensuring they align with project requirements, building codes, and industry best practices.
  • Technical Expertise: Possess a strong understanding of design principles, construction techniques, and relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit).
  • Team Management: Delegate tasks, provide feedback, and mentor team members, fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment.
  • Budget and Resource Management: Manage design budgets, track expenses, and allocate resources effectively to ensure projects remain within budget.
  • Quality Assurance: Review and approve design drawings and specifications, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and adherence to project standards.
  • Problem Solving: Identify and resolve design challenges and conflicts effectively, ensuring timely and efficient solutions.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with industry trends and best practices, actively seeking opportunities to improve design processes and enhance project outcomes.

Qualifications And Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Structural Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • Prior experience or background as a Contracts Manager or Structural Engineer is ideal but not required.
  • 5+ years of experience in design management, ideally within the residential/commercial industries.
  • Experienced with cut and carve, D&B, and traditional contracts.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading and managing design teams from cradle to grave.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on collaboration and client interaction.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit).
  • A passion for design and a dedication to delivering high-quality results.
