We are seeking an Accounts Payable Clerk to join our team on a temporary basis for 6 months. This role is essential for managing the company’s financial transactions related to purchases and supplier payments. The successful candidate will be responsible for processing invoices, reconciling accounts, ensuring accurate and timely payments to suppliers, and maintaining financial records in compliance with corporate policies and UK regulations. This position is critical in maintaining strong supplier relationships and supporting the financial health of the business.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Invoice Processing:

    • Receive and log supplier invoices via email or electronic systems.
    • Ensure invoices are matched to purchase orders and delivery notes for accuracy.
    • Resolve discrepancies and escalate issues as necessary.
  • Payment Administration:

    • Prepare and execute payment runs ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
    • Manage supplier queries regarding payment status or discrepancies.
  • Account Reconciliation:

    • Perform monthly reconciliations of supplier statements with internal records.
    • Support month-end close processes by compiling reconciliation reports.
  • Record Keeping & Compliance:

    • Maintain organized records of all accounts payable documentation.
    • Ensure adherence to UK accounting standards and VAT regulations.
  • Communication & Coordination:

    • Act as the point of contact for supplier queries.
    • Collaborate with internal departments to resolve discrepancies.
  • Administrative Support:

    • Maintain databases and spreadsheets related to accounts payable.
    • Assist in preparing reports and dashboards for management review.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in Maths and English.
  • Experience in an accounting function is advantageous but not essential as full training will be provided.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general computer literacy.
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to work under pressure.
