Sales Manager (Rail) - Remote/ Home-Based Role

Our prestigious client is a global leader in advanced industrial drive technology and systems, delivering bespoke services with cutting-edge products. They serve customers across multiple sectors including energy, transportation, heavy industry, and commercial vehicles with solutions known for reliability and efficiency.

With a well-established UK operation supporting both domestic and Irish markets, our client offers comprehensive design and aftermarket services. Their technical capabilities include new product development collaborations with manufacturers, as well as complete maintenance support through spare parts supply and repair/overhaul services at their facilities or on customer sites.

The Role

We're seeking an experienced Sales Manager (Rail) on a permanent, full-time basis. This is a home-based position with travel requirements.

The successful candidate will be comfortable working in diverse and occasionally challenging environments. You should demonstrate adaptability and an open mindset, with the ability to engage constructively with various teams and approach challenges as opportunities for growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement sales and marketing strategies for rail product service packages and spare parts
  • Contribute to the broader UK rail sales strategy to attract and expand business
  • Establish and maintain strategic relationships with key industry stakeholders including OEMs, ROSCOs, TOCs, and service providers
  • Prepare competitive quotations, tenders, and commercial proposals
  • Provide technical support to existing and potential customers
  • Represent the company at industry exhibitions and deliver product presentations
  • Monitor and report on market trends and development opportunities

Requirements:

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the UK rail industry
  • Strong understanding of mechanical rail components (electrical systems knowledge an advantage)
  • Proven track record in key account management and/or business development
  • Excellent organizational and project/bid planning abilities
  • Established network of industry contacts
  • Demonstrated ability to build sales pipelines and deliver results
  • Commercial and contract negotiation experience
  • Self-motivated while contributing effectively to team objectives

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent qualification (HNC or similar)
  • Proactive approach to business development
  • Minimum 5 years of sales experience in the UK rail sector
  • Strong professional network within the UK rail industry
  • Experience with sales performance metrics and reporting
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
