We are also passionate about improving the local communities in which we operate, targeting tangible social value outcomes that make a meaningful difference to everyday lives and the environment.The RoleAs a Sustainability Manager, you will be responsible for leading our sustainability and social value initiatives, ensuring that our projects meet and exceed environmental standards while contributing to the broader goals of net zero and social impact.Managing the delivery of sustainability and social value requirements across the lifecycle of our projects, you will oversee all stages from preconstruction to practical completion. You will promote best practices across the business, working closely with project teams to implement and achieve sustainability objectives, including the attainment of relevant certifications such as BREEAM and EcoVadis. You will also play a pivotal role in maintaining our ISO14001 Environmental Management System, ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, and leading our efforts to reduce carbon emissions through effective data management and reporting.Additionally, you will:- Support project Social Value Champions in achieving project-specific KPIs and objectives- Review project performance, ensuring the correct measures to achieve annual carbon reduction initiatives are being implemented - Establish and maintain governance and management systems- Lead the collation of Scope 1, 2, and 3 data for carbon reporting- Ensure that goods and services are ethically procured and that supply chain monitoring, auditing, and vetting processes are in place- Oversee all elements of waste management including auditing of projects, supply chain and waste suppliersAbout YouTo be considered as a Sustainability Manager, you will need to demonstrate:- Experience in a construction environmental / sustainability role- Qualifications / strong knowledge of environmental assessment methods (BREEAM, EcoVadis etc.) and ESG principles preferred- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written- Solid administration and IT skills – Word, Excel, Outlook, company sustainability and social value reporting software (Thrive, Tracker+, MSite)- Calm and professional manner- Organised and the ability to maintain accurate records- Effective problem-solving and negotiating skills- Ability to liaise with people at all levels- Be self-motivated and able to self-manage- Reliable and committed- Strong interpersonal skills with a flexible approach to different work environmentsOther organisations may refer to this role as Sustainability Lead, Environmental Manager, Social Value Manager, or Net Zero Manager.How to ApplySo, if your skill set matches the above and the prospect of helping deliver some of the country’s finest projects appeals to you, please reach out via the button shown.Your application will be processed by Walter Lilly and interviews will be conducted on a rolling basis as suitable candidates apply.
