We are looking for a compassionate and skilled SEN/SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our dynamic team on a temporary basis. This role is crucial for providing tailored support to students with special educational needs (SEN) and social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) challenges. The ideal candidate will bring a mix of patience, creativity, and dedication to the position, ensuring that all students have the support they need to thrive in their educational journey.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide one-to-one support and group interventions for students with SEN and SEMH, adapting approaches to meet diverse learner needs.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and adjust teaching methods based on student responses.
  • Employ innovative techniques to engage students and facilitate emotional regulation and positive behaviour.
  • Assist in the creation and adaptation of educational materials that enhance accessibility and learning outcomes.
  • Regularly assess student progress through observation and structured activities, providing detailed feedback to teachers and caregivers.
  • Advocate for students' needs within the school environment, ensuring they feel safe, respected, and valued.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated experience in a Teaching Assistant role, with specific focus on SEN and SEMH.
  • Strong understanding of educational needs and welfare considerations for students with emotional and behavioural challenges.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, capable of building trust and rapport with students facing barriers to learning.
  • Resilient and proactive, with the ability to adapt quickly to changing needs and situations.
  • Relevant training or certification in SEN education, psychology, or related fields is highly desirable.
